Volodymyr Ivasyuk's friend Maria Marchuk, who inspired him to write Chervona Ruta, passed away at the age of 81. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine.
Maria Marchuk was a special person in Ivasyuk's life. They shared a common interest in music and medicine, as well as a love of their native land. The composer consulted with her, shared his secrets, and invited her to play in his ensemble. It was to her that he sang the first lines of "Chervona Ruta" and later sent the lyrics with a signature: "To Musa from Volodya. III pair on the dermis".
"In 1969, during a break between orchestra rehearsals, Volodya sang me his composition. And then there was a regular lecture, during which he handed me a sheet of paper with the text of Chervona Ruta. I still have this piece of paper. The words written by Volodya's hand are dear to my heart," Maria said.
The woman always cherished the memory of the composer, defended his good name, and supported his legacy. She was one of the few people who dared to go to Ivasyuk's funeral in Lviv, even despite the difficult circumstances of the time.
"Eternal memory to the woman who became the muse for the creation of one of the greatest masterpieces of Ukrainian music," the ICCC emphasized.
Mykhailo Pavliuk, deputy head of the Chernivtsi regional council and Ivasyuk's nephew, said that Marchuk would be buried in Bukovyna in the village of Godyliv.
According to him, the funeral service will take place on Friday, December 27 at 13:00 at the Central Cemetery (Godyliv), sector 49 B.
"And you can say goodbye from 16:00 on December 26, Thursday, after 16 hours (parastas at 18 hours) in the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary at 31 Kapelanska Street," he wrote.
