A 24-year-old man in the Kyiv region has been notified of suspicion of treason for helping Russian military personnel connect to satellite communications. This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, according to UNN.
Details
According to the investigation, the suspect was looking for additional income and established contact with a Russian military officer through social networks, who offered him money for verifying a Starlink terminal.
For 200 US dollars, the man agreed to activate the satellite communication terminal using his own documents at the post office.
The investigation established that after completing the task, he received payment to a crypto wallet.
Subsequently, the man involved two more people in this scheme - his colleague and his wife. He handed them the terminal identifiers, accompanied them to the post office, and controlled the verification process, without explaining the true purpose.
The prosecutor's office emphasizes that such actions allowed the activation of communication systems that otherwise do not work in areas where Russian troops are located.
The suspect's actions are classified under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. A pre-trial investigation is currently underway.
