The High Court of London has refused Nord Stream AG, the operator of the Nord Stream gas pipelines, the payment of nearly 580 million euros in insurance compensation for the sabotage of the gas pipelines in 2022. Russian media report this, writes UNN.
Details
Nord Stream AG, which is under the control of Russia's Gazprom, demanded compensation from Western insurance companies for damage to the gas pipelines. In case of victory, the company could have received one of the largest insurance payouts in history for infrastructure damage.
The court linked the explosions to Russia's war against Ukraine
Judge Claire Moulder sided with the insurance companies, concluding that the damage from the sabotage of the Nord Streams is directly or indirectly related to the Russian-Ukrainian war.
During the six-week trial, Russia, Ukraine, and the United States were named among possible parties involved in the explosions. At the same time, the court did not determine which specific party is responsible for the destruction of the gas pipelines.
