Latvia will donate 12 cars that were confiscated from Latvian residents for drunken driving to Ukraine. This is reported by LSM with reference to the decision of the Latvian government, UNN reports.
Details
It is known that cars are designed for:
- military administration of the city of Henichesk, Kherson region,
- army units of the Ministry of Defense,
- Kharkiv Valkiva Help Center,
- Council of the village of Kitaygorod,
- of the municipal non-profit enterprise Lviv Territorial Medical Society,
- Medical Institute of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.
Context
Latvia criminalizes driving under the influence of alcohol when the driver's blood alcohol content exceeds 1.5 ppm. In such cases, the car is confiscated, or if the driver is not driving his or her own car, he or she must pay an amount equivalent to its value.
Since the adoption of these amendments, Latvia has repeatedly transferred confiscated cars to Ukraine.
