Chief Rabbi of Kyiv Yonatan Binyamin Markovich has declared his readiness to become a surety for Iryna Mudra, the former deputy head of the Office of the President, for whom a preventive measure is being considered in the "Forrest Gump" case. This was reported by UNN.
During the consideration of the preventive measure, Markovich asked the court to allow him to act as Mudra’s surety.
"I ask you to give me the opportunity to be a surety for Ms. Iryna Mudra. I have known Ms. Mudra for several years. She came to us both at home and to the community to pray," said the Chief Rabbi of Kyiv.
According to him, Mudra regularly attended the community and treated her religious and personal obligations responsibly.
"When it was necessary to pray and perform other religious rites, Ms. Mudra always came. I am sure that this will be the case now as well. That she will not let down either the community, me, or the state," Markovich said.
He also noted that he had communicated with Mudra by phone extensively over the past several years. According to the rabbi, this gives him grounds to believe that, if released into his surety, she will fulfill the procedural obligations imposed on her and appear in court.

On August 21, the HACC partially granted the motion filed by the defense of Iryna Mudra, the former deputy head of the OP, and announced a recess until August 24. In turn, an SAPO prosecutor filed a motion to impose a preventive measure on Mudra in the form of UAH 150 million bail.
