On Sunday, one Indian citizen went missing following an attack on a commercial vessel near the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by the Ministry of External Affairs of India, as conveyed by UNN citing CNN.
According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, ten other Indian citizens have been rescued so far from the GFS Galaxy vessel, which was attacked off the coast of Oman.
Earlier on Sunday, the U.S. Central Command stated that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps "brazenly attacked" the Cyprus-flagged container ship GFS Galaxy while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
"One crew member is missing, and the vessel cannot continue its journey due to a fire on board and significant damage to the engine room," the statement said.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs condemned the attack and called for "free and unimpeded navigation and trade" in this waterway in accordance with international law.
"Attacks on commercial shipping and civilian infrastructure in the region must cease," the statement said.
