India's Ministry of Defense reports the test of the AD-1 interceptor missile, as well as confirming the reliability of its missile defense (BMD) and communications systems.

India's Defense Ministry said it tested an AD-1 interceptor missile of the second stage of the missile defense (BMD) system on Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha state in the east of the country.
It is claimed that the test was a success. Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the missile's developers on the successful test.

The Phase II AD Endo-atmospheric missile is an in-house developed, two-stage, ground-launched solid-propellant rocket system designed to neutralize many types of enemy ballistic missile threats at altitudes ranging from endo- to low exo-atmospheric regions, the defence ministry said in a statement. The ballistic missile system has incorporated a number of cutting-edge indigenous technologies developed by various DRDO laboratories, the ministry said.
