As the investigation established, the supply channel of drugs from abroad bypassing established procedures was organized by entrepreneurs jointly with officials of a medical institution.

Drugs, including for the treatment of cancer patients, were imported illegally and sold to patients through pharmacies. According to the investigation, the head of the department systematically received undue benefits for prescribing specific drugs to patients and directed them to managers of certain pharmacies.

In addition, law enforcement officers established the involvement in the criminal scheme of drivers of international routes who transported drugs from abroad. Entrepreneurs from the Chernivtsi region, who sent unregistered drugs to Zaporizhzhia by mail, are also among the defendants.

Based on the collected evidence, suspicion has now been notified to the pharmacy manager and the head of the hospital department. Their actions, depending on the role in the scheme, are qualified under Part 1 and Part 3 of Article 354 (Bribing an employee of an enterprise, institution or organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the police reported.

The article's sanction provides for a fine, deprivation or restriction of liberty for up to two years, or community service from one hundred to two hundred hours.
