In Vinnytsia, a 39-year-old driver hit a 5-year-old boy at breakneck speed when he and his father were crossing the road on a pedestrian crossing. The child died in the hospital from his injuries. The man was notified of suspicion. This was reported by the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office, according to UNN.
Under the procedural supervision of the juvenile prosecutors of the Vinnytsia District Prosecutor's Office, a 39-year-old Vinnytsia resident was served a notice of suspicion of violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by a person driving a vehicle in a state of intoxication, which caused the death of the victim and deliberate abandonment of a person in a life-threatening condition and deprived of the opportunity to take measures for self-preservation due to helplessness, if the abandoner himself put the victim in danger

The investigation established that on 07.07.2024, around midnight, a driver, driving a car while intoxicated, hit a young pedestrian who was crossing the roadway with his parents on an unregulated pedestrian crossing on Pirogova Street in Vinnytsia. After the accident, the driver fled in an unknown direction.
The 5-year-old boy died in hospital from his injuries.
The law enforcement established the location of the offender. Searches were conducted at his place of residence. A vehicle with damages to the front part of the body typical of the said traffic accident was found. The car was seized and taken to the impound lot.
The court has now imposed a measure of restraint on the suspect in the form of detention without bail.
These crimes are punishable by up to ten years in prison with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of five to ten years.
