According to media reports, militants attacked the minister's house in the city of Kati. According to Le Figaro, several members of his family were also killed.
Jeune Afrique sources stated the involvement of members of the jihadist group "Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin" (JNIM) in the attack. According to the magazine's interlocutors, one of the militants blew himself up in a booby-trapped vehicle near Sadio Camara's house. The powerful explosion completely destroyed the residence.
Witnesses interviewed by AFP confirmed that Sadio Camara's residence was severely damaged. Meanwhile, the minister's representatives claim that he is fine. The agency's source reported that Camara had been hospitalized.
