Ukrainian investigators have served a notice of suspicion to Rosatom Deputy Director General Nikolai Mulyukin, who led the looting of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant during the temporary occupation  in 2022. This was reported by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko, reports UNN

Investigators of the National Police of Ukraine have served a notice of suspicion to the Deputy Director General of Rosatom, Russian Police Major General Nikolai Mulyukin, born in 1958. He was in charge of the robbery of the nuclear power plant during the occupation of Chornobyl. This is the first suspicion to a Russian official of this rank

- Klymenko wrote on Telegram.

According to Klymenko, Mulyukin was personally at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant. The Russians did not know what to do with the plant during decommissioning, so they looted the property.

The Russian military followed the orders of the Rosatom officials at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant, holding  the plant's employees and the National Guard who were defending it hostage, the Foreign Minister emphasized.

Law enforcers have identified  more than 100 Russians who took part in the seizure and looting of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant.

"It has been confirmed that it was Mulyukin who led the occupiers at the facility," Klymenko wrote. He also added that every invader, regardless of rank, must be held accountable for war crimes against Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.

Today, April 26, is the next anniversary of the accident at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant . The whole world is remembering the events of late April 1986, honoring the memory of the liquidators and people who died from radiation exposure, and taking measures to prevent similar man-made disasters in the future.

On the anniversary of the Chornobyl  Nuclear Power Plant accident, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the whole world must put pressure on Russia to secure the release of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which was seized by the Russians. This is the only way to prevent new radiation disasters.
