The Brovary territorial community is actively working to ensure access to education for children with special educational needs (SEN). Assistants for children with disabilities and assistants to teachers and educators are already working in kindergartens and schools. This was reported to UNN by the Brovary City Council.

Details

To ensure access to education, 179 inclusive classes with 289 students with special educational needs are organized in 12 municipal general secondary education institutions of the Brovary territorial community. There are also inclusive after-school care groups.

In addition, there are 59 inclusive groups in 19 kindergartens with 141 children. Three children are accompanied by a child's assistant, the Brovary City Council said.

The lyceums employ 5 pupil assistants who help children with disabilities during the educational process at the institutions.

An assistant to a child with special educational needs facilitates the child's adaptation and socialization in the team. Their key role is to create a positive and comfortable learning environment for a child with SEN. In other words, they are the child's "guide" throughout the learning process.

Brovary's educational institutions also employ teachers' assistants and educators, whose main mission is to provide a personally oriented direction of the educational process for students with special educational needs in order to achieve learning outcomes.

It is worth noting that for 13 students with special educational needs who have musculoskeletal problems, the local authorities of Brovary hire special transport to take them to and from school.

The Brovary community is also actively adapting the educational environment for children with sensory impairments, providing access to special textbooks, technology, and inclusive programs.

In addition, 12 communal schools and kindergartens in the Brovary territorial community have created resource rooms for children with special educational needs. These rooms are used for psycho-emotional relief, correctional and developmental classes, as well as for individual and group lessons.

In total, 2,256 children with special educational needs are registered with the Inclusive Resource Center (IRC) in the community, of whom 1,426 are preschoolers and 830 are schoolchildren. To ensure access to education for these children, the community has created numerous inclusive initiatives and accommodations.
