A fire in a house in a city in northern Serbia early on Friday morning claimed the lives of six people, including four children, police said, UNN reports citing AP.
Details
The fire broke out at about 3 a.m. in Novi Sad, about 90 kilometers north of Belgrade, the capital, Interior Minister Ivica Dačić said.
An ambulance doctor told the state-run RTS TV channel that all the victims were already dead when the medical team arrived at the scene.
Dacic said in a statement that initial findings indicate that the cause may have been a charging electric scooter.
Dacic said the children were between the ages of 2 and 7. Police are working to identify the victims, but they believe all are members of a family registered at the address, he added.
Serbian media published photos from the scene showing charred objects in a small brick house, including a baby carriage and a washing machine.
