Finland will demolish the building of the Russian Consulate in Turku and build a kindergarten in its place

The city authorities of of the Finnish city of Turku is buying the former Russian Consulate General to demolish it and to build a kindergarten there. This was reported by YLE, according to UNN.

Details

Currently, the building of the of the former Russian Consulate belongs to the State Real Estate Department of the Senate. However the city authorities of the Finnish city of Turku yesterday unanimously decided to to purchase the property.

The current owner and the city agreed on a purchase price of 1.6 million euros. The area of the building The building of the main consulate is 2000 square meters.

The city authorities also approved that the 1974 property will probably be demolished and a new building will be built in its place a new building, most likely a kindergarten.
