President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid tribute to the victims of the enemy attack on the Mariupol drama theater on the second anniversary of the attack, noting that every Russian murderer must be held accountable for what they have done, and we will ensure their responsibility, UNN reports.

Mariupol. Drama theater. The inscription "Children". Two years have passed... The world must remember everything that Russia has done against Ukraine and Ukrainians, and every Russian murderer must be held accountable for what they have done. We will ensure that they are held accountable. May the world remember all those whose lives were taken by Russian terror.

- Zelensky wrote under a video posted on social media.

Air strike on Mariupol drama theater

On March 16 , 2022, the Russian occupation forces dropped a super-powerful bomb on the Mariupol Drama Theater.

As is known, the theater building in Mariupol was used as a bomb shelter. According to various sources, from 500 people to 1,200 civilians were hiding in it in the days before March 16.

On March 18 , it was reported that 130 people had been rescued from the Mariupol drama theater destroyed by the occupiers. As of March 25, a report from the city council stated that, "according to eyewitness accounts," about 300 people were killed in the bombing of the theater.

The Associated Press conducted its own investigation and concluded that up to  600 people may have been killed in the air strike.

According to satellite imagery, in front of and behind the Mariupol Drama Theater building, two days before the enemy bombing, there were inscriptions in large letters in Russian "Children" that were visible from high.

Addendum

According to an estimate by Human Rights Watch, at least 8,000 people died in Mariupol between March 2022 and February 2023 due to Russia's full-scale invasion.
