At the request of Ukrenergo, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) is exploring opportunities to increase electricity imports to Ukraine in winter. This was stated by the Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytskyi during a briefing, UNN reports.
Details
The capacity of our power system for imported resources is quite significant. The limiting factor for imports today is certain bottlenecks in the European side of their network. And now, at our very persistent request, the association of European operators called ENTSO-E is calculating how to bypass these bottlenecks in the European network and how much it will be possible to increase imports to Ukraine for the winter to reduce the deficit
He noted that Ukrenergo expects such a decision by winter, in the coming weeks and months.
Our goal is to minimize this deficit in winter. In a situation where generation has been severely damaged by Russian strikes, we are using the trunk grid to insure the generating capacities that have been lost due to enemy attacks, and by providing the ability to import, we are delivering additional resources to the system
Recall
If there are no new, large-scale damages to power plants, the situation in the power system will tend to improve in the next few weeks.
