Against the background of a slowing influx of Ukrainians and plans to tighten migration policy, Polish companies are experiencing a shortage of employees. Economists offer various solutions to the problem, including attracting foreigners and automation.

Against the background of a slowing influx of Ukrainians and Warsaw's plans to tighten restrictions on migration policy, Polish entrepreneurs are facing an increasing shortage of employees. This is reported by Rzeczpospolita, reports UNN.

Details

As the publication notes, the number of vacancies is growing quarterly. According to the main Statistics Department of Poland, at the end of March there were more than 112 thousand of them.

In some industries, staff shortages are already a problem for half or more companies. In particular, this is noticeable in construction, manufacturing, transportation, and logistics, although many immigrants work there.

Economists believe that the situation may worsen, because "the potential for immigration from countries with similar cultural backgrounds (for example, Ukraine and Belarus) is gradually exhausted, and the government may tighten migration policies, which will affect the influx of labor from more remote countries.

In addition, the demographic situation in Poland also contributes to an increase in the labor shortage.

Addition

Meanwhile, Piotr Sorochinsky, chief economist of the Polish Chamber of Commerce, believes that there is no single means to improve the situation in the Polish labor market.

He suggests combining such options as employment of foreigners, automation of the production process and involvement of low-activity groups (the elderly, people with disabilities, women).

Another option, according to he said, could be to open universities to students from Central Europe and Polish communities in South and Central America.

Recall

In total, in 2022-2023, Ukrainians registered 48,464 fops in Poland. This means that Ukrainian companies already account for more than 10% of established businesses during this period.
