Current Ukrainian driver's licenses will remain valid only within the territory of Ukraine after the country joins the European Union. This was reported by the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, informs UNN.

He reminded that the government updated the rules for issuing driver's licenses. According to the new regulations, all licenses that Ukrainians receive before the official accession to the EU will remain valid until the end of their validity period.
It is determined that driver's licenses issued in Ukraine before the date of accession to the European Union are valid until the end of their validity period, and after the date of accession to the European Union, they remain valid exclusively on the territory of Ukraine until the end of their validity period or exchange for a single European standard driver's license
He clarified that the changes provide that the right to drive vehicles of categories A1, A, B1, B and category BE is granted for 15 years, and the right to drive vehicles of categories C1, C1E, C, CE, D1, D1E, D, DE and category T is granted for 5 years. At the same time, the right to drive vehicles of any category, granted for the first time, is 2 years.
