The Security Service of Ukraine has reported the detention of a Russian informant who helped racists break through to New York in Donetsk region, UNN reports.

Details

"The Security Service of Ukraine detained another Russian intelligence informant who was "leaking" to the Nazis the locations of the Defense Forces in Donetsk region. The enemy's special attention was focused on the combat positions of the Armed Forces' heavy artillery, which keeps under fire control the occupiers' assault groups trying to capture the village of New York," the SBU reported on social media.

According to the special service, the suspect also tried to determine the coordinates of headquarters, strongholds and routes of movement of Ukrainian troops defending the settlement.

"The aggressor needed the intelligence to prepare new offensive operations aimed at capturing the village, where heavy fighting is currently underway," the SBU said.

SBU officers allegedly detained the Russian informant during counter-sabotage operations on the front line when she was trying to evacuate from the village to the frontline area.

According to the SBU, the woman remotely communicated with Russian intelligence through her husband's mother, who lives in Russia and is under surveillance by the aggressor country's intelligence service. According to the SBU, she dictated the collected data in voice messages and sent them to the "liaison" in Russia.

She was served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 114-2 (unauthorized dissemination of information on the movement, movement or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code. The woman is currently in custody. She faces up to 8 years in prison.
