The Czech government has approved a bill to restrict the sale of energy drinks to people under 15. Nutritionists support the initiative, emphasizing the danger of energy drinks to children's health.

The Czech government on Wednesday supported a proposal to restrict the sale of energy drinks to children. If the relevant rule is approved by parliamentarians, energy drinks popular among minors will be sold to young people only from the age of 15 and only upon presentation of a passport, UNN reports with reference to Radio Prague.

"Protecting children from the highly undesirable effects of various stimulants contained in energy drinks is a good idea, but some technical and partly legislative problems need to be solved," commented Agriculture Minister Marek Vyborny.

Nutritionists agree that energy drinks pose a significant health risk to children, as they can cause obesity and diabetes. Experts say that children should not consume energy drinks at all.
