A court in Bulgaria has banned further dismantling of an already dismantled Soviet Army monument in Sofia, writes UNN citing Bulgarian National Radio.

Details

The Administrative Court of the Sofia City Region has reportedly issued an order for the unconditional cessation of actions to dismantle the monument "Monument to the Soviet Army" in the Princes' Garden in Sofia. As a motive for its decision, the court pointed to the fact that no administrative act or contracts were provided that would indicate what should happen to the figures after dismantling.

The court considered the case at the request of the parties "Vstan.BG" and "Revival".

In the meantime, however, all the figures of the Soviet Army monument have been removed, the publication wrote. The last element, as indicated, was dismantled today, December 19.

Supplement

The demolition of the monument sparked protests including by two parliamentary parties, the Socialists and pro-Russian nationalists from Revival.
