Ukrainian athlete Nazar Chepurnyi won the first individual "gold" medal of his career at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in the vault, the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine reported on Saturday, UNN writes.

"Nazar Chepurnyi took the top step of the podium in the vault! Based on the results of two attempts, the Ukrainian received a score of 14.566," the NOC noted.
The vault is Nazar's specialist event, in which he has amassed an impressive collection of medals at world and European level: "gold" at the 2026 European Championships; "bronze" at the 2025 World Championships; "bronze" at the 2025 European Championships; "bronze" at the 2024 European Championships; "bronze" at the 2023 World Championships.
"It should be noted that this season Nazar took part in 3 of the 5 World Cup stages, and at each of them he won a medal: "gold" in Cottbus and Baku, as well as bronze in Doha. These results enabled the Ukrainian to win the overall 2026 World Cup standings in the vault," the NOC stated.
The expert commission of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine also named Nazar Chepurnyi the "Best Athlete of February 2026".

The Croatian capital Zagreb is hosting the continental championships in men's artistic gymnastics from August 19–23. Ukrainian athletes are also taking part in the competition.
