Chelsea Football Club has confirmed a positive doping test of Ukrainian midfielder Mykhailo Mudryk. In turn, the player himself said that he did not knowingly use any banned substances, UNN reports .
“Chelsea Football Club can confirm that the Football Association has recently contacted our player Mykhailo Mudryk regarding an adverse result from a routine urine test,” reads the club's official statement.
It is noted that Chelsea, together with Mudryk , will work with the relevant authorities to determine what caused the “unfavorable outcome.
The club declined to comment further.
Mudryk himself also confirmed the positive drug test. “This came as a complete shock to me as I have never knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules, and I am working closely with my team to find out how this could have happened.
I know I did nothing wrong, and I remain hopeful that I will return to the field soon. I can't say more now due to the confidentiality of the process, but I will say as soon as I can,” the player wrote on Instagram.
Earlier, the media wrote that Mykhailo Mudryk failed a doping test, having passed a positive A sample in late October. The Ukrainian Chelsea midfielder faces a suspension, and the result of the B sample is expected.
