The British Army has successfully tested a new weapon capable of destroying a group of drones using radio waves for the first time. The systems are capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 1 km, and the cost per shot is only 10 pence. UNN reports this with reference to data from the Ministry of Defense.

The developed Radio Frequency Directed Energy Weapon (RFDEW) system is capable of detecting, tracking and defeating a range of threats on land, in the air and at sea.
The RFDEW is capable of neutralizing targets up to 1 km away with near-instantaneous effect at a cost of 10 pence per shot and is a cost-effective complement to traditional missile-based air defense systems.
RFDEW differs from directed energy laser weapons such as DragonFire in that it uses radio frequency rather than a laser beam of light energy to destroy enemy threats.
The weapon uses high-frequency waves to disable or damage critical electronic components inside devices such as drones, causing them to immobilize or fall from the sky. It can also be used against threats on land and at sea.
Thanks to its high level of automation, the system can be operated by one person and can be mounted on a military vehicle such as the MAN SV to ensure mobility.
