UNICEF and the UN Refugee Agency will close the Blue Dot centers in Poland, which provided support to Ukrainian women and children. This was reported by UNN with reference to a statement by UNICEF.
Details
Such support centers were opened in Poland in March 2022 in transit zones where refugees are most in need of assistance: at border crossing points, train stations, benefit processing centers, and accommodation centers.
The Blue Dot will be completed by December 31, 2023.
Due to the changing needs of the refugee community and the protracted nature of the conflict, the focus in recent months has been on moving towards a more sustainable approach through community centers managed in cooperation with municipalities and local organizations, ensuring community empowerment in the long term
Addendum
Previously, every third Ukrainian crossing the Ukrainian-Polish border received assistance at the Blue Dot.
Since the Blue Dot centers began operating, nearly 950,000 services have been provided to children and families fleeing the war in Ukraine. These services include psychosocial support, child-friendly spaces, referrals to child protection agencies, and information on healthcare, education, housing, and transportation.
Recall
The European Commission will allocate 4 million euros to improve access to medical care for Ukrainian refugees.
