Today in Washington, DC, the heads of state and government participating in the North Atlantic Council's Washington Summit issued a declaration emphasizing their full support for Ukraine's right to choose its own security mechanism and determine its own future without external interference.
We fully support Ukraine's right to choose its own security arrangements and decide its own future without external interference. Ukraine's future is in NATO. Ukraine is becoming more operationally and politically integrated with the Alliance
They also noted Ukraine's significant progress since the Vilnius Summit in implementing democratic, economic and security reforms.
As Ukraine continues this vital work, we will continue to support it on its irreversible path to full Euro-Atlantic integration, including NATO membership
The declaration also states that Allies have confirmed their readiness to extend an invitation to Ukraine for membership when the necessary conditions are met.
The decisions taken by NATO and the NATO-Ukraine Council at the Summit, combined with the ongoing work of Allies, are a bridge to Ukraine's membership in NATO
According to the information, Allies are ready to continue to support Ukraine in realizing interoperability with NATO, as well as in carrying out additional democratic and security sector reforms, which will be systematically assessed through the adapted Annual National Program.
