In the Cherkasy region, four people died when they approached the site of a drone crash "out of curiosity" and it detonated. This was reported by the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, according to UNN.
On April 1, 2026, at approximately 13:00, during an air raid alert, as a result of a UAV falling on an open area between settlements in the Zolotonosha district, its warhead detonated. As a result of the explosion, 4 local residents who approached the crash site out of curiosity died.
Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the commission of a war crime (Part 1, Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Law enforcement agencies and rescue services once again emphasize: any fragments of UAVs, missiles, or other explosive objects pose a deadly threat.
Strictly prohibited:
- approaching the UAV crash site;
- touching fragments;
- photographing or filming them up close;
moving any parts of the object.
If a dangerous object is found, you must:
- move to a safe distance (at least 100–200 m);
- warn other people;
- notify the police or the State Emergency Service by calling 101 or 102;
- await the arrival of special services.
It is important to remember that even after a UAV crash:
- an unexploded ordnance may remain;
- a delayed activation of the explosive mechanism is possible;
- fragments can be dangerous due to the presence of explosive elements.
