In Khmelnytsky region, law enforcement officers prevented the illegal sale of a rare cultural heritage object that is more than 1500 years old - a silver overlay with gilding and solar signs. UNN reports this with reference to the Cyberpolice.
The police identified the person who placed an item on a specialized online auction called “Silver gilded plate with solar signs”.
The attached photographs depicted a unique find - a triangular silver overlay, densely decorated with stamp, ink, and mercury gilding.
Cyber police identified the seller who tried to sell the artifact through anonymous accounts.
The cultural heritage object was seized and sent for a comprehensive commission and art historical examination, as well as an examination of alloys and metals.
Investigators are investigating a criminal proceeding under Part 1 Article 193 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Objects of this style, called the “Sędala style,” are characteristic of the Great Migration era and date from the so-called “Kaczyn-Sędala-Unterzibinbrun horizon” (425-450). They are considered to be an indicator of the international fashion of the barbarian elites of that time, and the distribution of such artifacts marks the rapid movement of entire peoples.
The geography of such finds is extremely diverse: Scandinavia, Volyn, Crimea, Hungary, Germany, and Northern France. However, these are rare, isolated finds.
