The international agency Fitch Ratings expects that the war in Ukraine will continue in 2025 within its current broad parameters, a peace agreement is unlikely due to the difficult concessions that will be required from both sides, reports UNN.
"... despite some territorial gains by Russia since the end of 2023, Western military support and firm determination should allow Ukraine to prevent significant additional territorial losses," Fitch said in a statement.
The agency notes that the stated political goal of the new US administration to end the war may lead to a negotiated ceasefire, but a peace agreement is unlikely due to the difficult concessions that will be required from both sides.
"The parameters of a negotiated ceasefire, including security guarantees for Ukraine and the territories that will remain under Russian control, remain uncertain," the statement said.
