President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the Law on improving declarations of integrity of judges and family ties of judges. This law is European integration-oriented, reports UNN with reference to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Details
Law No. 4905-IX defines the procedure for submitting a single combined declaration on integrity and family ties of judges, strengthens the accountability of the judiciary in accordance with the recommendations of the European Commission. This will be done through the mandatory indication in the declarations of data on the legality of the origin of property.
The explanatory note to the law states that it strengthens the accountability and integrity of judges by optimizing the form of declaring integrity and family ties of judges, as well as improving the procedure for verifying judges' declarations of their integrity in accordance with the recommendations of the European Commission and international obligations.
Also, this law is an alternative to the draft Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine 'On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges' and Certain Laws of Ukraine on Improving the Procedures for Submitting and Verifying Declarations of Integrity of Judges," registration No. 13165 dated April 9, 2025.
In addition, this draft law provides that the declaration of integrity and family ties of a judge includes statements about:
- the legality of the source of origin of property;
- the compliance of the judge's standard of living with the property owned by him
and members of his family and the income they received;
- the absence of grounds for bringing the judge to
disciplinary liability;
- conscientious performance of the duties of a judge and the Code of
Judicial Ethics;
- failure to take actions aimed at acquiring citizenship
(nationality) of a foreign state.
Reminder
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law on financing the security and defense sector and amending the State Budget for 2026. This law provides for an increase in expenditures on monetary support for military personnel and the development of weapons, in particular, through attracting large-scale external assistance from the EU.
