Details

Maguchikh set the world record at the Diamond League in Paris. The Ukrainian was able to overcome it after she won the competition: in the fight against Australian Nicola Olislagers, she was the only one to take the bar 2.03 meters.

After Maguchikh cleared 2.03 meters, the Ukrainian high jumper set two consecutive records:

  • First, she cleared 2.07 meters (on the second attempt), updating her personal and national high jump records (both of which she had held).
  • and then on the very first attempt, she took a height of 2.10 m and set a world record!

Addendum

The previous world record stood for 37 years. It was set in 1987 by Bulgarian Stefka Kostadinova, who cleared a height of 2.09 m - Maguchikh is the first to clear a height of 2.10 m+.
