USAID to help with the construction of a European railroad between Poland and Ukraine

Ukraine will build a 1435 mm wide European gauge railroad from Mostyska to Lviv. The project was supported by the United States, which confirmed its intentions in a memorandum with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This modernization is aimed at increasing Ukraine's export potential and integration into the EU, including both freight and passenger transportation.

On the section from Mostyska station, which is located on the border with Poland, to Lviv (Sknyliv) will be constructed with a width of 1435 mm. The project will be supported by USAID, with which Ukraine has already signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, UNN reports.

One of the important tasks for increasing export capacity is the modernization and replacement of tracks, and, if necessary, the construction of new ones. The signing of the Memorandum with USAID will have a significant impact on the recovery of the Ukrainian economy and will contribute to European integration processes in general. It is also important that this track will be used not only for freight but also for passenger transportation in the direction of the EU countries.

On November 24, the United States Agency for (USAID) and Ukrzaliznytsia, with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister for Oleksandr Kubrakov and U.S. Ambassador Bridget Brink sign a Memorandum of Understanding Memorandum of Understanding.

According to the document, USAID will help modernize the section from Mostyska station, which is located on the  border with Poland, to Lviv (Sknyliv). The first step will be to create a feasibility study for the project.
