Buckingham Palace has confirmed the resignation of British Conservative leader Rishi Sunak from the post of Prime Minister of Great Britain after his party's defeat in the elections, UNN reports with reference to the BBC.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that Sunak's resignation had been accepted by the King.
"The Honorable Rishi Sunak, Member of Parliament, met with the King this morning and tendered his resignation as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury, which His Majesty graciously accepted," the palace said in a statement.
Rishi Sunak left the building. His car drove out of the main gate and sped past a crowd of curious tourists.
"This is the last official point in his time in office," the newspaper notes.
Labor leader Keir Starmer will soon meet with the king to officially become prime minister.
After meeting with the king at the palace, Labor leader Keir Starmer is expected to address the nation at around 12:20 p.m. local time.
Starmer is also expected to appoint a new cabinet. He needs to fill two gaps after a couple of his shadow cabinet members were defeated, one of whom, Jonathan Ashworth, was unexpectedly among those who were defeated.
