Next week, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey will consider a bill to approve the protocol on Sweden's accession to NATO. This was reported by the Turkish TV channel NTV, according to UNN.
Details
On Tuesday, December 26, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey will discuss a resolution to approve Sweden's membership in NATO. In order for the membership to be approved, the resolution must be voted on at the general assembly after it is approved by the committee.
In addition, the issue of Sweden's membership in NATO was also raised during the last meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Joe Biden.
Erdogan said that Biden had suggested that he "conduct the approval process for the F-16 modernization and the Swedish membership process at the same time."
Recall
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan linked Ankara's ratification of Sweden's NATO membership application to the United States' approval of Turkey's request to purchase F-16 fighter jets.
