Trump announced his latest high-level appointment in a statement on Sunday, calling Carr, the most senior Republican commissioner at the Federal Communications Commission, a "free speech fighter" who will "end the regulatory onslaught that is paralyzing America's job creators and innovators.
According to the publication, Carr wrote a chapter in Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation's controversial manifesto of radical conservative action plans for Trump if he returns to the White House. He proposed to limit the legal protection of online publishers enshrined in Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which protects online platforms from legal liability for content posted by their users.
