The Armed Forces of Ukraine are creating a unified system for working with family members of killed (deceased), missing, and captured servicemen - support (patronage) services. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, approved the Concept of Implementation of Social Support for Servicemen and Their Families in the System of Civil-Military Cooperation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Roadmap
It is reported that the main purpose of creating such a system is to take care of the families of servicemen and inform them in general, accompany the wounded in health care facilities, coordinate and communicate with the families of prisoners, missing persons, and the dead (deceased).
Colonel Oleksandr Kutkov, Head of the Central Department of Civil-Military Cooperation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that the relevant units will be deployed as part of the existing staff units of civil-military cooperation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which have a separate structure and vertical at all levels of military command.
The social support services will be staffed primarily by servicemen released from captivity and servicemen who are unable to participate in combat operations due to injury or health conditions. The relevant decisions have already been made by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The event was also attended by representatives of combat brigades where an experiment was conducted to introduce social support units.
The work of the patronage service is incredibly important not only for the wounded defenders and families of the soldiers, but also for the entire brigade. Because our defenders know that neither they nor their families will be left alone, and this boosts the morale of the brigade as a whole. For example, in our military unit, the vast majority of the wounded return to service

Junior Lieutenant Serhiy Lykhomanenko of the 5th Separate Assault Brigade said that patronage services are a kind of multi-hub that brings together specialists in various fields: medical, financial, personnel, psychological, public relations, etc. This makes it possible to resolve the issues of servicemen and their families more quickly.
"The decision to establish social support services is supported by combat brigades because it is aimed at ordinary soldiers. As the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the General Staff have repeatedly emphasized, our main value is people," emphasized Lykhomanenko.
In accordance with the joint Directive of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, patronage services will soon become regular units in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will bring support for servicemen and their families to a new level of quality
