The Norwegian national football team delivered over a ton of products to the World Championship, including salmon and brown cheese. The team explained this as a pursuit of sports discipline and the elimination of factors affecting performance.

The Norway national football team brought over 1,000 kilograms of food supplies for the team to the World Cup. The team explained this decision as a matter of sports discipline and dietary control. This is reported by As, as cited by UNN.

Details

"Norway's preparation for the World Cup sparked a lively reaction online after media reports emerged that the national team had delivered over 1,000 kilograms of food from their homeland to their base in the USA. However, contrary to some sensational reports, this is actually not related to distrust of American cuisine, but rather to high precision in competition preparation," the publication writes.

It is reported that the Norwegian team brought with them to the tournament a carefully selected supply of familiar products, including hundreds of kilograms of Atlantic salmon and white fish, over 100 kilograms of "brunost" (traditional brown cheese) and thousands of oranges, as well as a full team of chefs accompanying the squad.

In total, the volume of supplied products exceeds one metric ton — enough to sustain the team throughout the entire tournament.

It is noted that while on social media this step was portrayed as "Norway's distrust of American food," the team staff, on the contrary, emphasized effectiveness and consistency.

Since players spend weeks in unfamiliar conditions, the goal is to eliminate any variable factors, especially those related to nutrition, that could affect recovery, digestion, sleep quality, or match readiness.

"This level of logistical control is becoming increasingly common in elite international football. At World Cups, the smallest details matter, and nutrition is treated with the same seriousness as training, tactics, or recovery protocols.

National teams essentially create a fully controlled environment abroad, including brought-in chefs, ingredients, and individually tailored menus," the publication notes.

Addendum

The Norway national team began their 2026 World Cup campaign on June 17 with a crushing match against Iraq (4:1).

On Tuesday, June 23, Norway will face Senegal, and will play their final group stage match on Friday, June 26, against France.

Recall

The Spain national team secured their first victory at the 2026 World Cup, confidently defeating Saudi Arabia with a score of 4:0. After a goalless draw with Cape Verde, the Spaniards completely dominated the field and left their opponent no chance.
