The National Bank of Ukraine fined the joint-stock company "Ukrposhta" 2.5 million hryvnias for violating the requirements of Ukrainian legislation regulating activities on the payment market and legislation on consumer protection during the provision of services on the payment market. This was reported by UNN citing the NBU.
Details
The relevant decision was made by the Committee on Supervision and Regulation of Banks' Activities and Oversight of Payment Infrastructure of the National Bank of Ukraine (hereinafter - the Supervisory Committee) on June 22 of this year. It comes into force from the day it is brought to the attention of Ukrposhta.
Based on the results of a scheduled inspection of JSC "Ukrposhta", conducted by the Inspection Department of the National Bank of Ukraine in November 2025 - January 2026, violations of the requirements of legislation regulating activities on the payment market and legislation on consumer protection during the provision of services on the payment market were identified

On June 23, the National Bank of Ukraine made a decision on the non-compliance of the General Director of JSC "Ukrposhta" Ihor Smilianskyi and demands his dismissal from the government.
In response, Smilianskyi stated that he considers the decision of the National Bank of Ukraine regarding the demand for his dismissal from his post as "settling personal scores" by the head of the NBU Andriy Pyshnyi, as well as an attempt to disrupt the creation of a postal bank.

The General Director of Ukrposhta, Ihor Smilianskyi, voiced three versions of why President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent back the Order of the White Eagle to the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, via "Nova Poshta". According to him, the reason could have been the national colors, a legal prohibition, or problems with delivery through Poland. He also noted that Ukrposhta vehicles are being blocked by Polish customs.
