Starting from January 2025, the government will allocate UAH 2.9 billion to provide free hot meals for Primary School students. The funds will go to communities in the form of a State subvention, which will help organize a balanced diet for children.

The Ministry of education and science is preparing a new procedure for using subventions, taking into account the experience of 2024. It is expected that the Cabinet of ministers will adopt a corresponding resolution in December, so that communities can use funds for food from the beginning of the new year.
The president of Ukraine also proposed to expand the program of free meals for middle and high school students. This is planned to be implemented in 2025-2026. In October 2024, the government has already allocated UAH 2 billion for hot meals for Primary School students.
By the end of November, 93% of schools had implemented this initiative.
