The government has approved reviews of state budget expenditures in certain areas in 2024. This was reported by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, UNN reports.
Today, on April 23, the Government adopted a decree "On Conducting State Budget Expenditure Reviews in Certain Areas in 2024". The expenditure reviews cover not only the financial aspect of budget programs, but also their effectiveness, relevance and contribution to the achievement of state policy goals in the relevant area.
Details
The Ministry of Finance explained that such reviews help to increase the efficiency of budget expenditures and reallocate funds to higher priority areas.
The adopted order determines:
- areas and objectives of expenditure reviews of the key spending units responsible for their conduct (20 areas of 16 key spending units);
- by December 1, 2024, submission to the Government of reports on the conducted cost reviews.
The order also provides for:
- to extend until July 1, 2024, the review of expenditures started in 2023 in the field of social protection of war veterans based on the request of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs;
- to conduct an assessment of the effectiveness of the measures taken based on the results of the review in 2019 by the Ministry of Health. After all, it is proposed to repeat the review in the field of training and professional development in 2024;
- to inform the Government and the Ministry of Finance about the measures taken by the key spending units based on the results of the reviews conducted in 2018-2021.
