The Deputy Mayor of Zhytomyr has been notified of suspicion of illegal enrichment amounting to over UAH 9.3 million. According to the investigation, he acquired property significantly exceeding his declared income, including a house, a land plot, and a car, registering part of the assets through a fictitious divorce. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, writes UNN.
The current Deputy Mayor acquired assets during the war period whose value significantly exceeds his legal income. In particular, during 2021-2025, the official purchased a land plot on which he built a residential house with a total area of almost 200 square meters and a Volkswagen Touareg car, the statement reads.
In order to conceal and not reflect the property in annual declarations, he "fictitiously" divorced his wife in advance, but continued to live together and maintain a common household.
Subsequently, he registered the land plot and the newly built residential house in her name.
The total value of the unjustified assets, according to the expert's conclusion, exceeds the official's family declared income by more than UAH 9.3 million.
Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor's Office, the Deputy Mayor has been notified of suspicion of illegal enrichment (Part 1 of Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
A preventive measure in the form of detention with an alternative of bail in the amount of UAH 832,000 has been imposed on him. A motion to suspend him from his position has been submitted to the court.
