A former official of the Zhytomyr Oblast Tax Service illegally received an average monthly salary for two years. This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation, which notified him of suspicion, UNN writes.

It is reported that the head of one of the tax departments signed a contract with a volunteer formation of the Dnipro city territorial community in June 2022. He did not report for duty, but was given the opportunity to be relieved of his duties and stay in his hometown.
For two years, the tax officer practically did not leave his home, but received UAH 700 thousand in salary from the tax office
The official has now been fired. He is suspected of misappropriation of another's property by fraud committed on a large scale under martial law (Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 8 years.
The issue of choosing a preventive measure is being decided. Compensation for damages caused to the state will also be initiated.
The SBI also indicated that the investigation should give a legal assessment of the actions of the State Tax Service officials who allowed this fact to happen, as the officials had never checked the reality of his service in a volunteer unit.
