The vessel was previously detained off the coast of the city of Trelleborg. Suspicions concerned the use of a false flag, violation of safety regulations, and possible forged documents.
According to the investigation, the cargo ship was empty and underwent a full police inspection. Following this, the authorities allowed it to leave the country.
"The cargo ship is empty and has been thoroughly inspected by police officers," said a representative of the investigative authorities.
It is also noted that the crew, who were previously detained along with the captain, will leave Sweden on the same day. Further escort is being provided by the border police of the southern region.
