Today it became known that the United States has terminated the USAID-funded program of the Constitutional Court of Georgia. It is a project of the Summer School under the Rule of Law program. The European Council, which also funded the Summer School, has not yet announced its position.
The opposition TV channel Mtavari reports that the United States has stopped funding another program, the Peace Corps educational project, which brought English teachers to Georgia. Also, according to Mtavari Arkhi, USAID grants, which were used to help English teachers implement various educational projects in local communities, have been suspended.
Earlier it became known that funding for projects at the CDC and Lugar Laboratory in the amount of $2 million had been suspended.
Last week, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the Georgian government's anti-democratic actions and false statements do not meet the standards of membership in the European Union and NATO, and the United States is suspending more than $95 million in direct assistance to the Georgian government.
