At night and in the morning of August 16, Russian troops fired 23 times at the border areas and settlements of Sumy region. 65 explosions were recorded. This was reported by the Sumy RMA, according to UNN.

According to reports, Yunakivska, Myropilska, Bilopilska, Krasnopilska, Velykopysarivska, Berezivska, Hlukhivska, Esmanska, Seredyna-Budska, and Sveska communities were subjected to hostile attacks.
- Krasnopilska community: the enemy attacked with mortars (16 explosions), artillery (11 explosions), FPV drone (1 explosion), and carried out air strikes with CABs (2 explosions).
- Bilopilska community: mortar shelling (3 explosions), FPV drone strike (1 explosion), and air strikes by CAB (2 explosions).
- Sveska community: an FPV drone strike was recorded (1 explosion).
- Yunakivska community: the enemy launched a rocket attack (1 explosion) and a CAB air strike (1 explosion).
- Velykopysarivska community: an FPV drone strike (1 explosion).
- Berezivska community: there was an air strike by the KAB (2 explosions).
- Hlukhivska community: a KAB air strike was recorded (1 explosion).
- Esman community: 10 mines were dropped by Russians on the territory of the community.
- Seredyno-Budska community: the enemy attacked with artillery (8 explosions).
- Miropilska community: KAB air strikes (4 explosions)
