Shopify's CEO stated that the company will not expand its staff until it is proven that AI cannot perform the necessary work. He urged teams to first use AI to achieve results.

Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke stated that new employees will not be hired without proof that artificial intelligence cannot do the job. This was reported by CNBC, according to UNN.

Details

Employees will have to prove why they "cannot get what they want with artificial intelligence" before requesting increased staff and resources, Lütke wrote in a memo to employees, which he made public on X on Monday.

Lütke said there is a "fundamental expectation" that employees will use AI in their daily work.

Technical companies, the publication notes, are pouring money into AI development while continuing to cut jobs.
