Ukraine has launched a pre-trial investigation into a video showing the shooting of unarmed Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers in the Pokrovsk district by Russian occupation forces. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, UNN reports.

Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation was launched in criminal proceedings over violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
The agency emphasized that the killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is carried out by investigators of the SBU Main Directorate in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

The agency said that on December 2, 2023, a video of the shooting of unarmed Ukrainian defenders by Russian soldiers was disseminated in the media. According to preliminary data, it happened near one of the observation posts in the area of Stepove village, Pokrovsk district.
