Russian security forces detained a 55-year-old man in occupied Crimea for allegedly being a member of the "Noman Chelebidzhikhan Crimean Tatar battalion" and participating in protests.

Details

According to the report, the 55-year-old man allegedly joined the "Crimean Tatar battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan" in December 2015 and took an active part in "public protest events", organized and sold allegedly "propaganda materials in the media" and "agitated for alienation by force".

His name and surname have not been disclosed, and the detainee's defense has not yet taken a position. The Ukrainian military and authorities have not commented on the situation.

The Russian FSB added the Noman Chelebidzhikhan Crimean Tatar Volunteer Battalion to the list of "terrorist organizations" in 2022.
