Russia is ready for a dialogue with Georgia at the level of parliaments. This was stated by the head of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, at a press conference following the spring parliamentary session, UNN reports with reference to Novosti Georgia.
"If there is a desire for dialogue on the part of Georgia, we are ready now, despite the fact that we do not have diplomatic relations. This is the mission of parliamentarians, that's why they are elected," she said.
According to Matvienko, they have no contacts with their Georgian colleagues so far. The Russian parliament believes that everything can change, as "Georgia is going through difficult political processes and many things are being rethought.

"There will be elections in Georgia in October, and, of course, they will determine the economic, social and political course of development. (...) Let's see how the election campaign ends," Matviyenko said.
She believes that the West is interfering in this process "using well-known scenarios and tools." Meanwhile, in Russia, "as there was respect for the Georgian people, so it remained".
