Russia is already preparing to interfere in the next elections in Moldova and has intensified disinformation campaigns, as well as attempts to influence public opinion. This was stated by the director of the country's Information and Security Service (SIS) Alexandru Musteață, reports deschide.md, informs UNN.
Details
According to him, today Moldova is much better prepared for attempts of external interference than in previous years, but threats continue to evolve.
We are much better prepared for the next attempts of interference by the Russian Federation. At the same time, we cannot relax, because they are not relaxing. They have very large teams of specialists who are well paid, who work against us every day
He emphasized that the service he leads this year records a significant increase in activity in the field of disinformation and propaganda, while "different methods are already being used than before".
Campaigns are being conducted to discredit the army, the security sector, public order bodies and the justice system. The goal is to reduce the level of trust so that by the next electoral cycle, the citizen begins to doubt whether state institutions are working effectively
He added that Russia is trying to strengthen its influence in Moldova, in particular through penetration into the political environment. According to him, this is achieved both by recruiting and promoting individual politicians, and through illegal financing of individuals acting in the interests of Moscow.
Recall
The authorities of Moldova did not extend the agreement with the Russian Federation regarding the operation of the "Russian House" in Chisinau.
